Education and Training Paula Hopkins is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience providing behavioral health services. She was raised on a wheat farm in western Kansas and has lived in Reno County for most of her life. She graduated from Hutchinson Community College. She then completed a Bachelor of Science in Social Work at Bethel College and a Masters in Social Work at the University of Kansas. She is licensed to diagnose and treat mental health problems. Paula has training in cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems, crisis intervention, grief therapy, mindfulness and neurofeedback. Her focus is on allowing the client to tell their story and to encourage techniques to calm the mind such as meditation and yoga. Paula enjoys working with adults, especially those 45 years and older who are struggling with anxiety, depression or grief. Previous Experience Paula worked at Horizons Mental Health Center for more than 25 years primarily in Crisis Intervention. She also worked with substance abusers who were in the court system. She was part of the programming team at the Reno County Correctional Facility when it opened, providing individual and group therapy. She most recently worked part time at a private facility in McPherson. In the past, Paula has volunteered as an advocate with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. She currently volunteers for several organizations in Reno County.
